There are nearly 8.5 million vegetarians and vegans in the world. The Disney parks have recently been doing a great job of adding vegetarian and vegan menus to their restaurants. Walt Disney World parks in particular have a lot of terrific options. So if you are a vegetarian or vegan planning an upcoming trip to Walt Disney World or if you are a meat eater looking for healthier options when eating in the parks, this post is for you!

First and foremost, you may wish to check on menu options and make special menu requests before your trip. You can do this by calling the Advance Dining Reservation system for table service restaurants or by calling the main switchboard and having them transfer you to a specific restaurant. You will find that most cast members and chefs are super accommodating when it comes to meeting your needs. Having this advance notice allows you to have the foods you want or need and allows the chefs time to prepare the meals for you.

You may also wish to speak to the server or chefs on your trip about vegetarian or vegan dining options. Many guests, myself included, have found that there are meals available off the menu.

For those of you that are curious about all the tasty vegetarian or vegan options available in the park, I have compiled a few suggestions:

Magic Kingdom

Cosmic Ray’s
Greek salad, veggie wrap and veggie burger (vegans, the bun has dairy)
Columbia Harbor HouseLighthouse sandwich. This is a tasty hummus sandwich on whole grain bread with a broccoli slaw. If you leave the slaw off the sandwich, it is vegan. This restaurant also has a vegetarian chili. If you order the Garden House Salad, order it without the chicken to make it a vegetarian option.
