Walt Disney World Bay Lake Tower review

Author: Active Diva

Want to stay at a Disney Resort with the best views of the Magic Kingdom? How about a resort with Monorail access? Better yet, how about the only Disney Resort that offers guests the ability to walk to and from the Magic Kingdom? Then Disney’s Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary is your resort.

The experience begins as you pull up to the towering Contemporary Resort. This modern masterpiece was one of the first Walt Disney World Resorts and one of the only Walt Disney World Resorts envisioned by Walt himself. After check in is complete, you’ll cross the sky bridge to the Bay Lake Tower.

Bay Lake Tower is a Disney Vacation Club Resort, but you can stay there even as a non-member. You can even rent DVC points.

Room Choices
The resort offers studio villas, one bedroom villas, two bedroom villas and three bed room grand villas, with either a theme park view, lake view or standard view. Being a DVC resort, rooms offer some of the comforts of home. The one, two, and three bedroom villas offer fully equipped kitchens and washer and dryers. The studio villas offer a kitchenette with a microwave and refrigerator. There are no washers and dryers in the studio villas, but there is a laundry room on the first floor.

Rooms
The decor of the room is modern, with a Disney twist. Can you spot the hidden Mickey’s?

Pool & Activities
The pool at the Bay Lake Tower is fantastic. Children and adults alike enjoy the Mickey spiral water-slide.

There are plenty of activities at Bay Lake Tower. They offer a bonfire most nights, boats and other water craft are available to rent, and they offer plenty of children’s activities.

Dining
Since Bay Lake Tower is part of The Contemporary Resort, there are many dining options close by. The only dining option at Bay Lake Tower, however, is the small quick service stand at the pool. One huge perk available at Bay Lake Tower only to DVCmembers staying on points is access to the Top of the World Lounge.

A quick stroll across the sky bridge will take you to the fourth floor of The Contemporary. Here you will find the Contempo Café. This is a quick service with classic breakfast, salads, flat breads, and sandwiches.

Looking for character dinning? Right next to the Contempo is Chef Mickey’s. Chef Mickey’s is a breakfast and dinner buffet offering character dinning with the Disney fab five. Reservations are highly recommended.

Not into characters? Then try The Wave or IF fine dining is more of your thing, checkout the California Grill. California Grill is on the top floor of the Contemporary Resort. This restaurant offers some of the best views of Walt Disney World.

Transportation
Bay Lake Tower offers numerous transportation options. First, you can walk to the Magic Kingdom. This is the only resort that offers this perk. Bay Lake Tower also offers access to the Monorail, inside the Contemporary Resort. The Monorail can be taken to other resorts, the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Bus service is available to Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney.

If you are looking for a Disney Resort that offers amazingviews, quick access to the parks, and wonderful accommodations with a Disneytwist, Bay Lake Tower is your resort.
