A Sneak Peek of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure
Author: D’land Diva
Disney California Adventure has been under construction for the past few years getting ready for the expansion of Cars Land. When you walk into the new Cars Land, you will see that it was worth the wait. It looks just like you walked onto the set of the Pixar movie Cars!
The theming is elaborate. None of the painted cardboard look that California Adventure had become known for, is anywhere to be seen! This land is quality work, from its signs, to the rides, shops and restaurants. This article is to give you an idea (with a lot of pictures!) of what you can expect when you visit the new Cars Land.
Disney Diva Tip: It’s going to be crowded for awhile, so if you do not want to wait two hours or more to get on a ride you may want to wait to visit in a few months, like September or October- or May. I’m just sayin’! Look at this photo!
Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree
Think tea cups at Disneyland or Magic Kingdom, but with a swinging factor. These are square dancing baby tractors, and no two tractors move the same! The music is really fun, with all songs being sung by Mater himself and Billy Hill and the Hillbillies from over at Disneyland. Be sure to listen for a “cut” song track that plays every now and again. It is funny!
Luigi’s Flying Tires
These are nine feet wide floating tires that float on air pumped up through the floor of the ride. The beach balls are just a fun addition to the ride. This ride was based the Flying Saucers ride that was in Tomorrowland at Disneyland in the early 1960′s.
Cozy Cone Motel
There are several food stands here, where your food is always served in a cone. Look for churro bites with sauces, chili “cone” carne with cheese, and seasoned popcorn. Also served here are flavored drinks of the non-alcoholic variety. Fun!
Flo’s V8 Cafe
This diner themed restaurant serves breakfast with a twist (chicken tamales for breakfast), and comfort foods like pork loin, N.Y. Strip Steak, and citrus turkey with side dishes such as vegetarian baked beans, coleslaw, pasta salad and veggies. The special dish is a vegetarian tater tot casserole with Boca veggie crumbles instead of ground beef. Let’s not forget the pies, however, including strawberry rhubarb.
There are also three new shops, wonderfully Cars themed, with a lot of new merchandise.
Sarge’s Surplus Hut
This store is largely clothing, with toys mixed in, including Legos with a Cars theme.
Radiator Springs Curios
If you are into Vinylmation, this is your place. It also has packaged foods, more clothing and some unique Route 66 and Cars themed merchandise.
Ramone’s House of Body Art
Once again, a store with a lot of clothing. This store also has a lot of accessories to go with your cute shirts. It can be found right near Radiator Springs Racers.
I cannot stress enough the elaborate theming and little touches that make Cars Land so special. This new land is sure to be a favorite for years to come!
