We enjoyed dinner recently at Shutters at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort (Vacation Club Property on Vero Beach’s Orchid Island).

Shutters has a nautical theme and looks over the gorgeous Atlantic:

Shutters hosts a few special dinners throughout the week:
Sunday brunch (complete with complimentary mimosas)
Monday night family style BBQ pirate dinner (with PIRATE Goofy and Donald)
Thursday night seafood buffet (my favorite!)
and Saturday morning family style character breakfast (with Goofy and Donald) but this particular evening had a regular “order off the menu” dinner:
We had the Cheeseburger Flat Bread, and the Pot Roast:
There are a few things about Shutters that make it totally stand out. Their service is undeniably the best I have ever had on or off of Disney property. Their chefs regularly come out to the tables to check on their dishes, and I have even had management bring samplings around. Although Disney is remarkably clean, Shutters has an open kitchen, which makes me that much more comfortable ordering fish. And lets just be honest – the view can’t be beat!
The flat bread totally surprised me. I had tried every dish on their menu – yes, every dish, except the cheeseburger flat bread. It is now my favorite – wow, what took me so long?! The pot roast is always a tender, juicy, hit, and the onion straws take it to the next level.
The menu offers something for everyone – from fish dishes (try the “Floribbean”!) to flat breads, pastas and salads, you won’t be disappointed (skip the burgers, they’re not much different than any other restaurant).
My top picks for a one-day stint at the resort?
Start with the crab cake appetizer, go for the Florribean fish of the day, and top it off with a Key Lime Coconut martini – you’ll feel that island high for days!
