Anyone who has traveled to Disney with kids- or let’s face it- gone anywhere at extended time with kids, knows that kids need time to run around. I’m not just talking about “let’s let Jr. out of the stroller to walk for a bit,” but some genuine kid time where they can roam, explore, run and move their little bodies around.

At the Disneyland Resort there are several places in which kids can do just that! And for adults, these are some great places to take a seat on the bench and enjoy watching your little ones.

1) Mickey’s Toontown

This section, at the back of the Disneyland Park, is full of places to explore for the little ones. There is fun around every corner, with Donald’s Boat, Mickey and Minnie’s Houses and an interactive town where buttons can do magical things. At the time I am writing this, there is also a playground beside Goofy’s House in which kids can slide and climb. The playground is enclosed, with benches for the parents to rest. This area is currently under construction so it is hard to say if it will still be the same when they are through.

2) The Pirate’s Lair at Tom Sawyer’s Island

Run through caves, secret paths and explore bridges and more on this fun island that sits in the middle of the Rivers of America. To get there, you have to ride on a raft! This is a great place to let the littles run loose. Diva Tip: Some of the caves are dark and a tight fit, so you will want to keep a close eye on the kids.

3) Redwood Creek Challenge

Over at California Adventure is the ultimate playground for kids. It’s full or trails to explore, tire swings, rope swings, slides and climbing…and there’s even a small theater where kids can listen to a story at certain times of the day (if the feel like sitting down at all).

4) Princess Dot’s Puddle Park

Bring the kids’ swimsuits for this fun water play area. There’s mist, sprinklers and fountains that will get the kids completely soaked! Diva Tip: There are family restrooms across from the Puddle Park which makes it really easy to change the kids into dry clothes after a fun water play session.

So there you have it! A few places that you can let the kids run around and play while on your Disneyland trip. Have fun!
