On a scale of 1-10 in deliciousness, the Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor gets an 11. This ice cream palace is sponsored by Dreyer’s Ice Cream and once you walk in, it is obvious that the cones are homemade. The wonderful sweet bakery smell just adds to the mid-century ambiance of this recently renovated space. You can find Gibson Girl on Main Street, in between the Carnation Cafe and the Candy Shop.

While lines have been known to be rather long at this dessert place, the line moves rather quickly with several registers open. There is one line and guests are called to the next open register to order. In general, once your order is given, you are asked to step to the side while your order is being prepared. When it is ready, your name is called. During times when it is not very busy, you may be able to get your ice cream right away.

So let’s get down to the best part already: the menu. There are several specialties, which is code word for “mile high sugar goodness.” These specialties include: A Chocolate Chip Hot Fudge Sundae for around $6, A Firehouse Dalmatian Mint Sundae for around $6, and a Strawberry Street Car Sundae also for around $6. If you like your ice cream with whipped cream, fudge sauce and a cherry- these specialties are for you!

For those ice cream float aficionados, for around $4.50, you can get two scoops of ice cream in a Coke, Root Beer or Fanta Orange Soda float.

Ice cream purists can get a single ($4) or double ($4.50) scoop of ice cream on a choice of  regular, waffle or waffle dipped cones. Of course, the fancier you get, the more you pay. Ice cream choices include: chocolate, strawberry, butter pecan (sugar free), cookies and cream, cookie dough, vanilla, mint chocolate chip, mocha almond fudge and rainbow sherbet. Peanuts, sprinkles, and strawberry or hot fudge sauce can be added to your scoop for $1 each.

There are also several drink options available at the Gibson Girl. Bottled Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite can be purchased for $3. Bottled water is also around $3.

Diva Tip: Free water is available here. Take advantage!

So the next time you are craving something sweet, stop on by the Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street!
