Everyone loves a Disney vacation! When I was a child, you had a choice of Disneyland in California or Walt Disney World in Florida. Now of course you have many other options to choose from. One of the great things about a Disney vacation, regardless of where you choose to spend your time, is the undeniable opportunity to create long-lasting memories. Sure, a Disney vacation is expensive, but memories are free. And with a little creativity, you can commemorate those memories fairly cheaply.

I have been fortunate enough to have visited both Disneyland and Walt Disney World as a child. Yes, there are photos, videos, and souvenirs from those vacations, but I can’t erase those images from my memory. I can still remember the excitement of seeing THE Mickey Mouse for the very first time! I remember sitting next to my Mom on the Casey Jr. Circus Train and being front row for Fantasy Follies at the Carnation Gardens Stage. I remember riding the ferry across the Seven Seas Lagoon, and walking onto “Main Street U.S.A.”, meeting the cast of Robin Hood. You can pay a lot of money for a vacation but you can’t buy those memories.

If you have been fortunate like me, hopefully you have some old photos of past vacations and can relive those memories in print. Maybe you’re fortunate enough to now be able to vacation at Disney. Either way, I hope you hold dearly to those memories and carry them on into the future.

Before my last Walt Disney World vacation, I took a look through some old photos of past vacations. I looked at pictures of my first Walt Disney World vacation, exploring places with my Dad. Seeing these photos was very special considering that my Dad passed away in 2003. I only hope that he knew how special those vacations were to me, and how much they would mean to me years later. As an adult, I often finish an attraction or ride and can’t help but think that my Dad would have (or did) love that. I can’t have that back, but I can remember it!

As I was flipping through those old photos, I came across a photo of my Dad and I sitting just outside the entrance to Adventureland. I knew right then and there that I had to commemorate that! During my last vacation, I made a point to have my picture taken in that exact spot. I can sometimes over think things so of course I took into consideration the angle and location of the camera and exactly which stone we were sitting on. Later I used the old photo and the new one to create a collage.

I have two tips for you today! Number one, use the modern technology we have today to help you create memories. Use your cameras, phones, what ever you have to make sure there are photos of you on your vacation. Then take those photos and make them even more special like mixing old and new photos together. Secondly, if you have been struggling to decide if the Memory Maker is worth it to you, I say go for it! Try it at least once for yourself. The last thing you want to do is return home from your Disney vacation only to realize you should have taken more photos.

Disney makes it so easy to make those memories even more special than that already are. Maybe you don’t have photos from the past, but there’s always the future. Keep it special and don’t forget! And here’s a little secret, this doesn’t have to apply to only Disney vacations. Every day life is special too. Treasure it!
