You’ve planned, paid, booked, and reserved. You’ve arrived and the big countdown is over. And before you know it, you’re waking up on your last day of your Disney vacation. Now this is what nightmares are made of. The wait for your prized Disney vacation seemed to take an eternity, but the actual vacation went by in less than a New York minute. Cue the tears and the dreaded PDD. Doctors know very little about this illness, but true Disney fans are sadly familiar with Post Disney Depression. You won’t find any pills with catchy names for this hateful problem. It’s all in your hands to make sure that you and your family can keep the magic alive! This ugly depression may never really go away until your next trip to the World but here are some of my tips to help soften its effects.

Tip #1 – Buy Disney Parks music!
There are many venues through which Disney Parks music is available. You can buy CDs in the parks or online, you can purchase them on iTunes, and they are even available through streaming services. There are even radio apps that stream Disney Parks music throughout the day. These familiar sounds will put you back in the magic and bring a smile on your face. You may not actually smell the popcorn on Main Street or that distinct smell in Pirates of the Caribbean, but the music is sure to bring back those memories. Personally, I find it better to listen to the Disney Parks music on the way home and for a few days after returning home. This is probably when the Post Disney Depression will hit you the most.

Tip #2 – Keep your Disney collection growing!
Now really, this is something you can do, even if you don’t have Post Disney Depression. But keeping that collection growing certainly won’t hurt. Especially if you brought home some really cool souvenirs from your last Disney vacation. I have quite a large collection. In fact, my desk (where I’m typing this article) is absolutely covered. My collection has spilled over into other parts of the house. Not to mention the boxes of collectables that are in storage due to lack of space. I have old and new items. Collectables from antique stores, thrift stores, yard sales, Disney Parks, Disney Stores, and many items that were given to me. I love mixing the old with the new and watching how some of these characters have evolved over time. This just helps keep your love for Disney alive and keeps your mind off the fact that you’re up to your knees in snow instead of up to your head in pixie dust.

Tip #3 – Plan another trip!
Okay, I can hear ya now. “Do you know how much I just spent on my last vacation? Where will I get the money for another one?” Who said you had to actually book another trip? Let’s be honest, you’re going to want to go back, even if you have to wait a year, or God forbid, even longer. So until you have that cash in hand, go ahead and plan away! Nothing beats Post Disney Depression like planning for that next trip to the World. The Walt Disney World Website and the My Disney Experience app are great ways to help you play around with ideas for your next trip. And surely I’m not the only one who secretly checks into the My Disney Experience app to see the current attraction wait times. Right? Please tell me I’m not the only one.

So this isn’t rocket science. It’s actually something very easy and enjoyable to do. I will warn you, this may actually make your Disney obsession worse, but I’m going to guess that you’re probably okay with that. I know I am.
