Ever since I was a little girl, I have been making memories at Walt Disney World Resort.  Whether it be a new ride, restaurant, or character experience, the memories have been unique and special.  Many times throughout my life, I was fortunate enough to create these moments not only with my parents and siblings, but with my grandparents as well.  My grandparents and I would sneak off to the Grand Floridian Cafe for lunch and a lobby visit, even as I aged into my 20’s!  Just a few weeks ago, I was able to pass along this experience to my son when he, his grandmother and I spent a few nights at this absolutely magical resort.  Disney’s Grand Floridan Resort and Spa is truly the ultimate in accommodations while also remaining family-friendly.  I was worried that compared with other locations, the theming and elegant nature may not be as exciting for a small child- I couldn’t have been more wrong!  From the pools to shopping to dining, The Grand has it all!  There is a higher price tag on this resort, but you aren’t only paying for the name, you are paying for convenient location and an absolutely one-of-a-kind experience.  So is going Deluxe worth the extra cost?  I say, absolutely and here are my reasons why!

It’s a Magic Kingdom Resort

Our room was located on the 4th floor of the Big Pine Key building and it turned out to be an amazing location!  The Grand is actually not as big and spread out as other resorts on property, making it very easy to navigate.  Directly in front of our building was the Courtyard Pool, to the right, Bay Lake and to the left, a short walk to the main building.  From our room, there was an obstructed view of Bay Lake, meaning we could see portions of Wishes from our balcony!  We could also experience the Electrical Water Pageant by simply going outside.  The music was loud and clear and the floats were pure excitement for my 4 year old!  You’ll hear quiet music playing throughout the many Walt Disney Resorts and this one is no exception, however, here you will also hear the mighty whistle of the Walt Disney World Railroad!

The Monorail

One stop to Magic Kingdom Park people, ONE!  Not only do you have access to my favorite Disney Park, but you are just a couple of stops away from Disney’s Contemporary and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resorts as well as the Ticket and Transportation Center.  The BEST part of Monorail transportation, you can roll your sleeping babes right on and head home, you don’t have to fold your stroller!

Turn down Service

Each night we were met with an arrangement of animals, towels, the television remote and delicious chocolates.  It was absolute heaven to walk into the room at the end of long day and feel immediately relaxed and at home!

The Lobby!

The smell as you enter the lobby is just delightful!  I have no idea what it is and I was told that it couldn’t be bought, darn!  My best description is a blend of peach, fresh laundry and the beach.  It was absolute perfection!  The lobby is vast and beautiful with many fluffy couches and chairs to lounge in.  There is also a band playing in the afternoon, it’s pure magic!

Dining!

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa has a wide variety of dining options.  Literally every type of experience you seek throughout the Walt Disney Resort itself, can be found here!  Quick service, Signature dining, even Character dining!  All in the comfort of your “home away from home.”

Pools!

There were three pools to choose from, the Beach Pool, the Courtyard Pool and what my son affectionately referred to as “the Teacup Pool.”  Needless to say, swimming was relaxing, readily available and complete with pool bar!  Drinks and food are available to order throughout the day and will be delivered to your table or lounge chair.  I found that taking a pool break during the day was incredibly easy and took much less time when staying at a Monorail resort, especially with little ones!

Transportation Options!

Aside from the Monorail, which is awesome, there are a few other ways to get around the World!  There is a Water Taxi, buses and a really peaceful jogging trail that leads to the Polynesian Village Resort!

Wherever you choose to stay, Walt Disney World Resort will provide you with the highest quality of service and theming.  At least once during your Disney lifetime, I highly recommend experiencing Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa for yourself, it will be unforgettable!
