Walt Disney World Park Personalities

-By Darlin’ Diva

For many of us who’ve spent much of our lives vacationing at Walt Disney World, one of the best aspects of visiting the four different parks is the individuality of each park – it’s “personality”, if you will.  My own love for a particular park is based less on the rides and attractions I can find there and more on how that park makes me feel!

Magic Kingdom – Whimsical, full of make-believe and magical details.  This park, unlike any other, brings out the kid in everyone!  Become part of a pirate battle and cruise through the jungles of the world in Adventureland.  rm-tomorrowlandBlast off in a rocket to outer space, battle for galactic peace, and catch some hilarious monster comedy in Tomorrowland.  beasts-castleExplore the ocean with Ariel and her friends, visit Beast’s Castle, dine with Princesses, and take a trip aboard a sailing ship in Fantasyland.  rm-country-bears-henryTake the wildest ride in the wilderness, sing along with the Country Bears, and splash down in the briar patch in Frontierland.  rm-haunted-mansion-exteriorBravely board a Doom Buggy and set off to explore the Haunted Mansion in Liberty Square!  rm-festival-of-fantasy-maleficent-dragonPause in the middle of the day to wait for Maleficent to roll by in one of the best parades to be found anywhere on Earth.main-street-usa-crowds

Magic Kingdom’s personality is happy, playful, and a little bit brave while remaining refreshingly old fashioned.  Strolling down Main Street U.S.A. towards Cinderella Castle is one of the greatest feelings in the World!

Epcot – Think “Edutainment” at its best.  If you’re a parent who loves combining vacation with learning opportunities, Epcot’s the place for your family.  While currently experiencing a slight identity crisis, Epcot still maintains enough of its roots to be the place for combining fun with a variety of ways to learn more about the world.  epcot-manatee-at-surfaceIn Future World, The Seas With Nemo and Friends is a wonderful place to learn about aquatic life.   See manatees, sharks, dolphins, sea turtles and many other animals in a unique setting.  sse-garlic-hat-guyExplore the human imagination with Figment, learn about modern agriculture in the Land, check out the automobile design process, play astronaut on a trip to Mars, travel through time to discover the history of communication, and fly high above Earth’s most amazing sights on Soarin’…and that’s only a small part of Epcot!rm-mexico-pavilionIn World Showcase, travel to 11 different countries, no passport necessary!  Set out to learn about other cultures – or just plan to have fun!  Attractions, food, shopping – all wrapped up in a trip around the world!  Epcot’s personality is sophisticated fun and, like visiting a favorite grandparent, you’ll always learn something you never knew before!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Immersive and a bit more adventurous!  While this park is currently undergoing major changes, it still retains the ability to both sweep you away and pull you in for big thrills and excitement within some of your favorite entertainment franchises.rm-echo-lake

The Studios’ personality is also clever and playful – you’ll want to stay sharp to catch all the sight gags, puns, and hidden fun sprinkled throughout the park.  Favored among tweens and teens, this is the place to find some of Disney’s most intense attractions like Star Tours, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Rock’n’ Roller Coasterrm-hollywood-tower-hotel-signThe very popular Toy Story Midway Mania is fun for everyone and nostalgic Muppet fans will find their happy place as well.  Disney’s Hollywood Studios is taking a hit right now with all the construction going on, but when Star Wars and Toy Story Lands are complete, this park will be packed with fun for all ages.animal-kingdom-animal-carvings

Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Exotic and mysterious, this park’s personality is best embraced by adopting a more leisurely approach.  The folks that find this only “a half-day park” are touring it wrong.  To truly enjoy Animal Kingdom, visitors must be willing to slow down and absorb the carefully crafted atmosphere in each section of the park.kilimanjaro-safaris-giraffeWhen in Africa, breakfast at Tusker House before embarking on an early morning safari, strike out along the Gorilla Falls trail and be prepared to stop many times along the way.

kali-river-rapids2In Asia, Expedition Everest offers big thrills and Kali River Rapids is exciting, but the Maharajah Jungle Trek is another trail that invites guests to take their time to fully appreciate all its wonderful details.  The Yak & Yeti is always a great place to grab either a quick or sit-down lunch as both options are offered there.  hirambe-market-place

Throughout the park, lush landscapes, walled ruins, animals both beautiful and interestingly unusual…are all wrapped up in the very best details Disney Imagineering has ever created.  primeval-whirl2The seemingly incongruous Dinoland U.S.A. is yet another opportunity to become immersed in a completely different environment.  rafiki-teachingFinally, Rafiki’s Planet Watch is an often overlooked section of the park that gives guests the best opportunities for hands-on learning.  Where Disney’s other three parks tend to inspire guests to rush from attraction to attraction, Animal Kingdom is best enjoyed by slowing down.  We love it as either the park we visit on our first full day at Walt Disney World or as a mid-vacation opportunity to relax and explore.

Whimsical magic, educational adventure, immersive thrills, and exotic exploration – which ever Disney park personality is your favorite, you’re sure to have a World full of FUN!
