If you’re looking for a refreshing, yet sinfully delicious snack at Disneyland, look no further than the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square.  First off, I should clarify that the name “Mint Julep Bar” is a bit of a misnomer, because alcoholic beverages are NOT served here.  What is served, though, are some delectable treats you won’t want to miss!

Probably the most famous treat on the menu is the Mickey-shaped beignets. Light, airy and oh so yummy, the beignets are served with powdered sugar in a paper bag.  Just give the bag a little shake to drench your beignets in the sugar, and be prepared to delight your taste buds.  Of course everything tastes better when it’s Mickey-shaped, but these beignets would taste good in any shape! You can choose from a 3-pack or 6-pack (but honestly, unless you’re alone, you’d better opt for at least 6!)Disneyland's Mint Julep Bar: Are You Ready to Say "Beign-YAY?"

Naturally you’ll need the ideal beverage to go with your beignets, and what could be more perfect than a non-alcoholic New Orleans mint julep? I’m not a fan of the traditional version of mint juleps, so I didn’t have very high expectations on this non-alcoholic variety.  Boy, was I wrong!  One of my sons described it as having a Gatorade-esque flavor.  Another called it a mix of sweet lemonade and mint.  We all agreed it was absolutely wonderful! Served with a slice of lemon and a sprig of fresh mint, the New Orleans mint julep was scrumptious with our beignets, and definitely something I would return for again and again! If you’re looking for a more traditional drink, the Mint Julep Bar also serves fountain beverages, juice, milk, coffee, tea, and hot cocoa.Disneyland's Mint Julep Bar: Are You Ready to Say "Beign-YAY?"

Now that you have your beignets and drink, it’s time to find the perfect spot to enjoy them. No problem!  The Mint Julep Bar is tucked away in the corner of the garden patio of the French Market Restaurant, so this quick service walk-up window offers a tremendous location to soak in some atmosphere and enjoy a respite from a hectic day at the park.  There are plenty of tables on the patio, and an open air canopy to provide some relief from the warm sun. It also has a nice view of the train station, so you can relax and do some serious people watching as the Disneyland train comes into the depot.Disneyland's Mint Julep Bar: Are You Ready to Say "Beign-YAY?"

If you haven’t tried a Mickey-shaped beignet, I would highly recommend you put it on your to-do list for your next Disney trip. (If you are visiting Walt Disney World, you can find Mickey-shaped beignets at Port Orleans French Quarter.  Dopey Diva tells you about it here.) And if you need some help planning that trip, be sure to contact Patricia at All for Dreams Travel. She can provide as much or as little guidance with booking hotels, dining, park-tickets – whatever you need – and her services are completely FREE! Just be sure to leave time in your park itinerary to make a stop at the Mint Julep Bar, and enjoy a New Orleans mint julep and Mickey beignet!  You’re welcome.
