I love to snack.  There.  I said it.  And one of the best places in the world to snack is at a Disney park.  They have a very wide variety of options, so even the pickiest of eaters will find something they enjoy.

Daisy Diva's Top 5 Snack Credit Items

Before our family’s first trip, I was looking into the Disney Dining Plan, and read up about snacks and snack credits.  Let’s just say that Disney’s description of a snack credit is less than impressive.  According to the website, snacks may include the following:  • Frozen ice cream novelty, popsicle or fruit bar • Popcorn scoop • 12 oz. coffee, hot chocolate or hot tea • Prepackaged milk or juice • Piece of whole fruit • Bag of snacks • 20 oz. bottle of Coca-Cola®, Sprite® or Dasani® water • 20 oz. fountain soft drink.

Now, let me fill you in on a little secret.  A snack credit can be used for pretty much anything that is less than $7.  Now, don’t quote me on that people, ok?  Don’t get all cranky when the cast member at Starring Rolls because he won’t let you get that $6.99 cupcake with a snack credit.  I said “pretty much,” so not every single item under $7 is a snack credit.  But I have noticed that most of the snack items fall under that $7 price point.  So according to Disney’s suggestion, you can use your snack credit that is pretty much worth $6.99 for a banana that you can buy at your local Kroger for $0.59!  Not on my watch, Disney-philes.  NOT.  ON.  MY.  WATCH.

So without further adieu, here are my top five favorite Disney World snack credit items.  Try not to lick your screens.

Number 5:  The Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar.

It’s cold.  It’s chocolatey.  It’s a classic.  It’s the Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar.  You can find this refreshing snack at any and all Disney Parks…probably at more than one location.  But proceed with caution…in the central Florida sun, you must eat it quickly, or you may end up wearing it.  And with a $4.25 price tag, it’s a good use of a snack credit.

Number 4:  Tie-dyed Cheesecake from Everything POP food court at POP Century Resort

I am a total cheesecake junkie, so this is an obvious choice for me.  Regardless of which resort you choose, there will be some great dessert options that you can get with a snack credit…zebra domes from Animal Kingdom Lodge or Beignets at Port Orleans to name just a couple.  But this tie-dyed cheesecake is just so much fun.  And it’s delicious to boot.  It’s a win-win.  And with a cost of $4.29, it’s a good use of a snack credit.  P.S.  Sorry it’s partially eaten in the picture.  Y’all are lucky this cheesecake-lover stopped chowing down long enough to snap a picture!

Number 3:  Egg Rolls

Ah-ha!  You thought these would all be sweets, didn’t you?!  Well, let me tell you, there are some really fabulous snack items out there that will skip your sweet tooth and head straight to satisfying your savory/salty side.  And Disney Egg Rolls are one of those snacks.  For one snack credit, you get two egg rolls, so depending on how hungry you are, this snack item is actually shareable.  You can get the pair of egg rolls for $3.99 out of pocket, and trust me.  They are yummy, as is evidenced by the fact that one of them had already been devoured when I snapped this picture.

Number 2:  Cupcakes

Ah, what can I say about the Disney cupcakes?  They are huge, they come in multiple flavors, they are huge, they are delicious, and they are shareable…because they are huge!  Because of the vast variety of cupcake options, there really is something for everyone when it comes to Disney cupcakes.  So go ahead and eat one for breakfast.  You’re on vacation!  Live it up!  And with a price tag ranging from $4.99-$5.59, you will feel really good scanning that Magic Band and using that snack credit for this yummy pastry.

Number 1:  The Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich

My new favorite…I don’t know how they do it.  What kind of Disney magic are they using that keeps the cookies warm and the ice cream cold right up until the last bite?  You can pick your cookie sandwich up at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom.  You can read my review here.  These sandwiches are huge, like the cupcakes, definitely big enough to share, and will cost you $5.59 out of pocket.

Honorable Mentions:

I couldn’t pick just five, so here are two more worth mentioning.  The first is the Dole Whip which is quite possibly the most popular, most iconic Disney snack ever.  So why is it not on my list?  Simple…I don’t like pineapple.  A Dole Whip Cup will run you $4.19 out of pocket, while the Dole Whip Float will cost you over a dollar more at $5.29.  But you can score either of them with a snack credit.

My second honorable mention goes to my all time favorite Disney World Snack ever:  the Cream Cheese Pretzel.  Ah, this sweet nectar of the gods with is soft chewy salty pretzel outside and sweet cream cheese filling on the inside.  So why isn’t it on my list…because Disney shattered my heart into a million pieces and then stomped on it for good measure by DISCONTINUING this sweet pretzel.  You should have seen my goofy grin dissolve into a puddle of sadness when the cast member at the Lunching Pad broke the news to me.  My husband took me by the arm and slowly led me away from the order window so that the shock could completely set in.  Maybe if I send enough emails, Disney will bring it back.  Here’s hoping!

So there you have it.  Go confidently, armed with your dining plan snack credits, and order a delicious snack during your next trip.  And for the love of Olaf, don’t use a snack credit on bottled water.  You can get ice water for free!
