MCO Airport Delays

If you’ve flown out of Orlando International Airport (MCO) lately, you’ve noticed there’s lots of construction happening, and now it’s only going to get worse through March 2018!!! Airside 1 (Gates 1-29) train replacement will be from June 2017 – March 2018. This will affect several major airlines.

According to the MCO’s website:

As part of Orlando International Airport’s $3.1 billion Capital Improvement Program, the Automated People Mover (APM) system that shuttles passengers between the Main Terminal and Gates 1-59 will be completely renovated over the next two years.

During the renovation process, a single APM train will remain operational. In the unlikely event of an interruption of service, the airport will deploy buses to transport passengers between the terminal and the gates. Special signage and airport personnel will assist passengers until the train is returned to service. Click here for construction updates.

MCO Crowds

If you plan on flying on any of these airlines in the next 8 months, June 2017 – March 2018 be prepared to allow extra travel time, as only one APM will be operating to gates 1-29.

JetBlue has issued a travel alert on their website and recommends arriving 3 hours prior to your departure time.

We have not heard from Disney if the Magical Express pick up time will be impacted in any way from these construction updates. Typically, the Magical Express picks you up at your resort 3 hours prior to your scheduled departure time. On your way to the airport you may make brief stops at our Disney Resorts before heading to the airport. Typically, you arrive at MCO with plenty of time to spare before your flight.

As always, keep in touch with your airline and flight status so you do not miss your flight!
