Yak & Yeti Local Foods Cafe: A Quick Service Alternative Fit for All Your AdventuresNavigating raging rivers or coming face to face with a Yeti can really work up an appetite.  So when you’re visiting Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort, you may want to take a break and stop by Yak and Yeti Local Food Cafés.

Located close to two major attractions, Kali River Rapids and Expedition Everest, you’ll likely be near Yak and Yeti Local Food Cafes sometime during your day at Animal Kingdom. Stop!  It’s a great place to grab a bite to eat, it has shaded outdoor seating available, and it’s a perfect place to dry off after your river adventure or let the butterflies settle in your stomach after plummeting down Everest.

Yak and Yeti Local Foods Cafes is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It qualifies as a quick service credit on the dining plan. At breakfast you’ll find options like breakfast bowls, bacon and egg sandwiches, fruit platters, and yogurt parfaits.  Kids meals include choices sure to please your little mouseketeer – cereal, pancake and sausage sticks, and French toast. Don’t forget the coffee and juice.

Honey Sesame Chicken

Lunch and dinner menu items include both Asian and American fare – everything from Teriyaki Beef Bowls, Vegetable Tikka Masala, and Honey Sesame Chicken to Kobe Beef Hot Dogs, Kobe Cheeseburgers, and Rib Tips.  You can add sides like egg rolls, chicken fried rice, or French fries and for dessert enjoy mini chocolate silk cake or mini mango pie.  Kids menu items suit even the pickiest eaters – Uncrustables, chicken strips, and cheeseburgers.  As a bonus for the adults there is a choice of alcoholic beverages available!

Another bonus of dining here is you get a little flavor of the famous Yak & Yeti Restaurant without the hassle or expense of booking a table service restaurant.  Obviously a quick service restaurant won’t be the same options as its table service counterpart, but it does give you a little insight as to what you may expect if you choose to spend a little more time and money to dine at Yak & Yeti Restaurant.

Diva Tip: Definitely try Yak & Yeti Restaurant at least once. It’s fabulous! Check out Devo CabDisney’s review – and absolutely be sure to save room for the fried wontons! Passholder Diva also did a great article on Table Service Twins – where you can find some of the same food as a table service restaurant at a quick service price! Yak & Yeti is on the list!

When we ate at Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes, I chose Honey Sesame Chicken.  It was pretty much what you’d expect – chunks of chicken with a honey sesame glaze and rice.  It was good – a nice change from burgers or a salad – but nothing remarkable.  My husband, not a terribly adventurous eater, was happy with his Kobe Cheeseburger.  My son chose the Rib Tips, and was surprised to find they had more kick to them than he expected. Overall, we were all satisfied with our choices. It wasn’t the best quick service meal we’ve ever had, but not the worst by far.  We’d certainly return again.

Another plus of Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes is the abundant seating. It’s all outside, but there are many tables covered with umbrellas, and many spaces in natural shade. While we were eating, a 5thgrade school group came in, and found enough tables – all together – in a back corner secluded from the rest of the guests.  It’s just a great place to sit and relax.

So the next time you are ready to explore Asia at Animal Kingdom, don’t just dash by Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes.  It’s easy to miss – but you’ll be missing a great spot to grab a bite and recover from the Florida heat if you do!
