A great place to explore outside of the Disney parks is Disney’s BoardWalk. The BoardWalk is not limited to guests staying at that resort, so it is a wonderful place to stroll, shop, be entertained, and of course, eat! A quick boat ride or walk from Epcot’s World Showcase International Gateway will take you to the BoardWalk. Here you can experience some of the best ice cream, in my personal opinion, on Disney property. This delicious goodness is offered at the newly opened Ample Hills Creamery, located next to the ESPN Club.

The Ample Hills Creamery at Disney’s BoardWalk, the first location outside of New York, offers a large selection of handcrafted deliciousness. As you near the storefront, you can watch the ice cream and mix-ins (oh so many mix-ins!) being prepared old-fashion style. Indoors the store is colorful and welcoming. With so many options, you may want to taste- test a few options before making your selection. Yes, taste-testing is welcomed and even encouraged. Should you still have trouble deciding on one flavor, as I did, you can have more than one scooped into your cup or cone!

The menu is fun, inventive, and a bit quirky. The ice cream flavors vary from PB Wins the Cup Ice Cream (vanilla ice cream with house-made peanut butter cups) to Butter Pecan Brittle Ice Cream (dark brown sugar cinnamon ice cream with pieces of house-made roasted pecan brittle). The creatively named flavors, which include other options such as Sally Sells Seashells Ice Cream, Malty Salty Pretzel Punch Ice Cream, Nonna D’s Oatmeal Lace Ice Cream, Chocolate Milk and Cookies Ice Cream, Peppermint Pattie Ice Cream and Coffee Toffee Coffee Ice cream (amongst others), taste as delicious as they sound. Those less adventurous with their ice cream flavors can enjoy Strawberries and Cream Ice Cream, Dark Chocolate Ice Cream and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. The Lemon Sky Ice Cream is a dairy-free and vegan option.

Since I tend to be indecisive, I had a scoop of Ooey Gooey Butter Cake Ice Cream and a scoop of Baked/Unbaked Ice Cream (vanilla ice cream with house-made chocolate chip cookies and brown butter cookie dough). My husband and I shared, and we both agreed that the Ooey Gooey Butter Cake Ice Cream is probably the best ice cream we have ever eaten! I will make a trip back to Disney’s BoardWalk  just for another scoop of this creamy deliciousness! And when you enjoy your treat outdoors on the BoardWalk, it is practically perfect.

If a cone or cup of ice cream isn’t what you are looking for, Ample Hills Creamery milkshakes and sundaes are available. A variety of cone options are offered including cake cones, waffle cones, pretzel cones, M&M cones, and chocolate chip cookie cones. Unfortunately, the dining plan is not accepted at this location. A small ice cream cup or cone will cost around $5.79, with specialty cones and larger options costing a bit more, but it is worth every penny!

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Ample Hill Creamery at Disney’s BoardWalk. My only regret is not making it back for a second time! The service, and most especially the ice cream, was exceptional. Consider a stop to Ample Hills Creamery on your next trip to Walt Disney World.
