Did you know that you can have your very own private oasis of cool and calm complete with a personal attendant whilst enjoying a day at Typhoon Lagoon?
Beachcomber shacks aren’t just for beach bums…….

My family loves a grand day out, but we don’t  like to be just another pebble on the beach, so during our last visit to Typhoon Lagoon we treated ourselves to the hire of a Beachcomber Shack. Oh boy am I so glad that we did splash out on this luxury!

Our beach haven at Getaway Glen consisted of a good sized deck area complete with six comfy loungers, all shaded under one huge parasol.  It was perfectly sited within a segregated and leafy private area along with other premium spaces where only ‘VIP’ wristband wearers are permitted.

Our Beachcomber Shack

Our particular space gave us a beautiful uninterrupted view of Castaway Creek and the lagoon beyond – it was great being able to see our children floating along the lazy river without even moving from our sun loungers!

Another advantage for families with youngsters is that the bathrooms are very conveniently placed nearby, so no long treks up the beach to ‘go potty’.

The cabana package comes with: refillable souvenir mugs for all your party, an ice chest ready filled with bottled water (we took any spares with us when we left),  a good sized security box, (invaluable for a day at the beach), beach towel hire for everyone, and here’s the ultimate indulgence – personal attendants for the day!

The two young men that waited on us could not have been more affable and they made our stay feel very special indeed.  Appearing from nowhere, and seeming to foresee our every whim…..upon our instruction they served us our lunch, delivered our ice creams and even brought out some cheeky late afternoon Pina Coladas for my husband and I!

And, of course, if you are using the Disney Dining Plan it feels even better as there’s no further exchange of money!  Although, as is customary in the USA, we did tip our servers at the end of the day.

You can pre-book Beachcomber Shacks and Premium Spaces up to 180 days in advance by calling Walt Disney World Recreation (001) 407 WDW-PLAY or (001) 407 939-7529, prices range from £33 ($53) – £200 ($319) per day, including tax. OR you can let our Travel Agent, Patricia with All for Dreams Travel, do it for you!! You can decide to hire on the day as we did, and check for availability at the  High and Dry Towel Rental Booth upon your arrival at Typhoon Lagoon.
My top Diva Tip when visiting either of WDW’s water parks is to wear beach shoes or you’ll be doing the hot shoe shuffle all day long on the sizzling sun heated concrete pathways.
Living only 5 miles away from the stunning Cornish coastline with it’s pretty beaches and all served by some gnarly surf from the powerful Atlantic Ocean, I know a bit about what makes a day at the beach great and Typhoon Lagoon certainly has it all in spades.
