Admit it. You’ve considered a cruise before. Going to tropical locations on a large boat with numerous activities and a ridiculous amount of food (available 24/7).

Add Disney to that mix and I think you have yourself one wonderful vacation idea!

I’ve had the opportunity of sailing on Disney’s first two ships (the Disney Magic & Disney Wonder) and have enjoyed it tremendously and I can’t wait to try out the newest ships to Disney’s fleet – the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy!

So what makes Disney cruises so spectacular? Here are just a few highlights:

Disney treats you right.

Iimagef you have ever been to the Disney parks, you know Disney’s attention to detail. You know how wonderful the cast members are. You know how magical your vacation is.

It is better on a Disney cruise.

First of all, your waiters/waitresses follow you throughout your cruise! On a Disney cruise there is rotational dining, meaning you dine in a different restaurant every evening. Your wait staff follows you from restaurant to restaurant – meaning they get to know your family! My greatest memory – when the wait staff brought out a surprise cake for the anniversary of our tablemates on our last cruise!

The other cast members on the cruise are just as friendly and helpful. The staff that cleaned our room left towel animals on our bed each night – and would greet us in the hall. The staff that accompanied the characters would take extra photos with our own camera. The list goes on and on!

Activities for the children are amazing.

(First of all, my husband and I do not have children – but I have talked to plenty of parents who would agree with my above statement.)

On a Disney cruise, there is something for everyone. And the areas for the kids are unrivaled. There are 2 pools just for kids and family (and another just for adults). There are character greeting opportunities that you could never imagine in the parks (Minnie actually came and sat down at the adult pool on our last cruise!). There are games galore (arcade, shuffleboard, ping pong, basketball and more).

But the best part? There are areas just for kids! The Oceaneer Club and Lab are places for kids to let their imagination soar! And the best part – parents are able to leave their kids with the cast members worry free! Why? Because on the day of your arrival, the children are given a bracelet and the parents a pager – so that communication can be made at any time!

Teens (and tweens) can also hang out (away from their parents) at their own clubs where they can play video games, watch movies and hang out with kids their own age too!

Adults can enjoy relaxation.

Disney also knows that the adults are in need of some alone time as well. There are many great ways for adults to enjoy some much needed relaxation while on a cruise.

imageThere is a wonderful spa onboard where you can relax to your heart’s content! Massages, facials, a beauty salon and even a fitness center are available for you to enjoy!

Another way for adults to enjoy their cruise is at the adults-only restaurant Palo. Experience a gourmet meal in style and class!

Disney knows entertainment.

Watch movies before they are released in the movie theater on the ship. Or watch some of your favorite Disney movies on the big screen!

Enjoy karaoke, dancing, live bands or games in a nightclub. (There is even one for the kids!)

Experience Broadway-style shows before or after your dinner. And when I say Broadway-style – I mean it!

And Disney is the ONLY cruise line to have a fireworks show from the ship itself!

Sail to exotic locations.

In 2012, Disney Cruise Line has expanded its sailing locations! Sail to Alaska. Sail the Mexican Riviera. Sail around New York. Even sail to Hawaii!

And you can always experience where it all began – sailing to the Bahamas or Caribbean. Best part about those cruises? You get to stop at Disney’s private island – imageimage

Castaway Cay! It truly is a piece of Disney paradise.

So there you have it – a few of the reasons why a Disney cruise is a great idea for your next family vacation!
