Last year, Disney announced initiatives as part of “going green” to reduce plastic waste as mentioned on the Disney Parks Blog here. This included eliminating plastic straws from theme parks and plastic lids. Devo CabDisney wrote an article about the straws here. When I visited the parks last August I started to notice lids were disappearing from quick service locations throughout the Magic Kingdom and that has increased throughout all four parks since then. Straws however are still readily available
Now for a nominal fee, Disney has introduced reusable shopping bags made of 80% recycled materials.
At Walt Disney World Resort, there are seven bags, one for each of the four theme parks; a bag for owned-and-operated shops at Disney Springs; a shared Walt Disney World Resort-inspired bag for Resort Hotels, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and other merchandise locations; and the existing World of Disney bag.
At Disneyland Resort, there are four different bag designs, a park specific design for both Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park; a bag for Downtown Disney District and Resort Hotels; and the current World of Disney bag.
