Grand Legacy at the Park Hotel Review

Grand Legacy at the Park

Parking. Looking towards the south building and pool

Since I prefer to stay within walking distance of the Disneyland Resort, when Grand Legacy at the Park had a special nightly rate Legacy Passholders, I took them up on it as this is a hotel we have not visited before. We stayed here 5 nights in October 2021. This hotel is on the northeast corner of Harbor Blvd and Disney Drive. It is just a short walk past about 5 other hotels to arrive at the cross walk entrance on Harbor Boulevard into Disneyland. It takes just a few minutes from the hotel to the security check point, which is a great reason to stay here. Is this hotel right for you beyond location?

Hotel Layout
Like most of the hotels along Harbor Blvd, this hotel is narrow in the front and extends far back into the property, although this property is much wider than several others along this route. The rooms are in a U-shape around the perimeter with the outdoor pool/jacuzzi and parking in the middle. Most rooms face into the parking lot, but there are ones right above the lobby that have views right into Disney California Adventure Park! It has a mix of two and four stories buildings and this is a 100% non-smoking and no pet hotel. The hotel has several staircases and elevators to assist you in getting into your room. On our recent stays, we were on the 1st floor in a far corner of the hotel. The pool and jacuzzi are located in a nice sized fenced-in area in the parking lot with lounge chairs, tables and towels. There is a coin-operated guest laundry center and there is not a fitness center.

Rooms
This hotel has five choices of rooms – Classic Rooms (two double beds), Deluxe Rooms (two queens or one king bed), Premier Rooms (two queen beds and double sinks), Luxury Rooms (two queen beds in the lobby tower), or Legacy Suites (two or three room suites in the lobby towers with views of Disneyland). All rooms have Wi-Fi, refrigerator, microwave, in-room coffee, cable TV, alarm clock, hair dryer and iron/ironing board. On this trip we stayed in a Deluxe Room with two queen beds. Rollaway bed/cribs are also available at no charge. We found the rooms to be spacious, but the bathroom is small, with one sink and limited counter space that is in the same room as the toilet/shower. Our preference is to have them separate to help 4 people get ready for our day.

Deluxe Room Bathroom

The rooms are clean, everything has been recently updated, and the bedding is comfortable. The room had an air conditioning unit near the back of the room that is also a heater/fan and worked well for our trips. We did not have any issues with noise from the neighbors other than the occasional stomping of feet in the room above us. DIVA TIP – if you do want a connecting room for your two parties, call the front desk when you book if you need connecting room since not all have this feature.

Amenities
There is a heated pool and jacuzzi (open 8 am – 10 pm), and a coin-operated laundry room (open 8 am to 10 pm). The pool area is great! There is a beach-type walk-in side of the pool for little to splash around without having to be all the way in, plus a water play area for the kids!

This hotel does not serve a complimentary breakfast. It has rooftop bar for night life called The Fifth and Tony Roma’s is next door. DIVA TIP – the rooftop bar can be loud at night, so considering not having a room the tower lobby if you are sensitive to noise. The hotel has free WiFi and we never had any issues getting a connection, maintaining a connection or issues with slow speed. Check in is 3 pm and check out is 12 pm. If you are parking, your car must be removed from the lot at 12 pm or you will incur additional parking fees.

Fees
The good news for those that are do not drive, there is no resort fee. But if you do drive, there is a $17 per night parking fee. There is a one vehicle per room limit. We did not have a problem finding a place to park our car in the hotel lot, even our large SUV. Just make sure you add that parking fee into the pricing structure when comparing this to other hotels as it is taxed at the 17% Anaheim hotel tax rate.

Staff
Due to COVID, we did not have much interaction with any of the staff. The check-in process was inside the lobby and the staff was pleasant. During our stay, housekeeping services were on pause. You could call the front desk and ask for new towels, soap, etc. and then leave your used items outside your door, including trash. The staff was not allowed to enter a room.

Summary
We felt very comfortable at this hotel and the location is very good. The rooms are recently updated and it is really nice that they have complimentary rollaway beds to sleep up to 5 in a queen room. I have booked this hotel again for a stay in early 2022 and this time I have booked a Premier Room so that we have double sinks and more space in the bathroom. This is not a Good Neighbor Hotel, so you cannot book this hotel with a Disney travel package. However, they have specials including rates for Magic Key Holders, and we found the price to be very fair compared to other hotels in the area. In December 2018, I gave a review of the Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel and Water Playground, or HoJo Anaheim, which is one of my favorites for kids due to their great water park.
