The Royal Guest Rooms are located in Port Orleans Riverside in Magnolia Bend. They were introduced in 2012 after major refurbishments to Port Orleans Hotel. The building where the rooms are located is not very convenient. You are a little bit of a walk away from the nearest bus stop….nearly two buildings over…..300 yards. This doesn’t seem that far, but when you have been walking around a park all day and night and have bags, sleeping children, and are exhausted…it feels like a mile. However, the rooms themselves are spectacular. I felt the extra walk wasn’t too bad, especially when the room was so magical! Children and adults alike will fall in love with these rooms.

These hotel rooms have all been updated for magic band entrance or the touch entrance for card users. You no longer have to slide the card in and wait for the green light. You can simply place your magic band or key card against the mickey head to get in the room. As you enter the room there is a letter for you from Princess Tiana herself.

The room is filled with mementos that her royal friends have given her over the years. Some of these include Aladdin’s magic lamp and flying carpet! There are two queen size beds in the room with a beautiful Victorian style head board. Turn out the lights and hit the button on the side for a fireworks display right there in your own room. The fireworks display doesn’t stay on…it lasts about a minute. On one wall there are formal portraits of all the princesses and on another silhouettes of all the princes. Look around the room for hidden magical objects. We noticed our foot rest was identical to the one from beauty and the beast….even check the carpets and you might see something enchanted. There is a large flat screen television and a mini fridge in the room. The bathroom is the standard split into two areas. You have two sinks and  a small closet area. Behind the door you will find the rest of the bathroom. There are 512 Royal Rooms. They are all identical except for the portraits on the wall. I found the beds to be quite comfortable and the room did not feel cramped (we had 4 adults). I would recommend this room for girls and boys. It does not have an overly girly feel to the room except for the princess portraits on the wall. The rooms are available in standard or garden view. We booked a garden view, but when we arrived there were none available. The garden views are closer to the bus stop and the bridge that cuts across to the lobby and gift shop. We went by the gardens and they were stunning. There is plenty of room for kids to run around and benches for adults to rest and relax.
