Author: Nick the Disney Devo (tee)Catch up on the whole journey HERE Last Wednesday, I talked about Dining outside around Deck 9 on the Disney Wonder. But what if you want an even wider variety? The Beach Blanket Buffet is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Hours vary for each meal, so check out the Disney Cruise Line daily newsletter, the Personal Navigator, each day for specifics.   Located aft on Deck 9, enter the buffet on either the Port or Starboard side, and go left or right, each side has identical offerings. Breakfast offerings may include scrambled eggs, made to order omelettes, Mickey waffles, pancakes, sausage, bacon, a variety of cereals, including my absolute favorite, Muesli, fresh fruit, bagels, cold cuts, lox, donuts, and other sweet treats such as another favorite, chocolate croissants, juices and coffee.   Lunch offerings include soups, salads, chicken, beef and fish dishes, fresh seafood, pizza, wraps, and a wide dessert selection.     One afternoon, there was even a barbecue, with salmon, steak...

Wednesdays Aboard the Disney Wonder – pt 7

Part 7 of Nick the Disney Devo (tee)’s trip to Alaska on the Disney Wonder. To catch up, please click HERE. Sunday, June 3rd I was up early, but felt much better after having an allergic reaction to the lobster the night before. We had a character breakfast at Parrot Cay, but sadly, Flynn had come down with a bug, so only Todd, Barbie and I went. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Goofy were dressed in their Hawaiian finest. All the servers were making hats for the guests. Barbie and I then went to the Walt Disney Theater, to see the naturalist give a talk on whales, while Todd went back to tend to Flynn, while Meghan and her mom joined us for the presentation. Afterwards, we picked out a couple of complimentary 8×10 photos at Shutters that were part of our package, booked through AAA. Here is my one major complaint about the cruise. They print out photos taken throughout the cruise with characters or in front of back-drops,...

Wednesdays Aboard the Disney Wonder – part 6

Part 6 of Nick the Disney Devo (tee)’s trip to Alaska on the Disney Wonder. To catch up please click HERE.Saturday, June 2nd Up around 5:30am, up on deck, watching the docking in Ketchikan. We had an excursion to the Rainforest Wildlife Sanctuary, Raptor Center, and Totems. The rainforest was lovely, but the only wildlife we saw were a couple of Banana Slugs, Reindeer in a pen (which I got to feed and pet), an owl and an eagle in the raptor center. We also saw an artist carving a Totem Pole, but it was a very brief session. All and all, I’d not recommend this excursion. Oh, and it poured rain. Afterwards, we had a little while to wander around Ketchikan. Once back on the boat, our gang regrouped and had some pizza and beer. We then did a scavenger hunt at WaveBands. This was a blast. The the 2 British female hosts were hysterical. Each group had to send up an adult male. I was sent up....

Wednesdays Aboard the Disney Wonder – pt 3

Part 3 of Nick the Disney Devo (tee)’s trip to Alaska on the Disney Wonder. For Part 2, please click here. Wednesday, May 30th We met the gang at The Beach Blanket Buffet for breakfast. Afterwards we went to a naturalist talk on glaciers at the Walt Disney Theater. Lunch was on the deck, pizza, burgers, ice cream. Then we found out there was a Barbecue over at the Buffet! Luckily, I had a little room left for a grilled steak and salmon! I ran into a wonderful couple that we’d met the day before at the Disney Vacation Club Member Meet, Peter and Marilyn. Peter had given me the hats I used to stuff my sweater. We ran into them so often, we became good friends, and hope to see them on our trip to Disney World in October! At 1pm, we arrived at Tracy Arm. We were on the approach to the Sawyer Glacier from about 1-4, arriving at the glacier about 4:15pm. It was raining so...
