No one likes to be sick, that’s for sure, but, if you or child is having a sick day, why not make it a Disney Movie Marathon day?  Middle Jersey daughter had an “I don’t feel good” day last week so we decided to turn it into a Disney Movie Marathon day.  Here’s a list of the movies she chose and her reasons for choosing them.

1. Frozen

If you don’t know Frozen, please feel free to crawl back under that rock you live under and go about your deprived life. Just kidding!  Frozen is a film that tells the story of a fearless princess (Anna) who sets off on an epic journey alongside a rugged, thrill-seeking mountain man (Kristoff), his loyal pet reindeer (Sven), and a hapless snowman (Olaf) to find her estranged sister (Elsa), whose icy powers have inadvertently trapped the kingdom of Arendelle  in eternal winter.

Middle Jersey daughter says this is her “most favorite movie to watch” when she is not feeling up to playing.

2. Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast focuses on the relationship between the Beast, a prince who is magically transformed into a hideous monster as punishment for his selfishness, and Belle, a beautiful young woman who he imprisons in his enchanted castle.

“Mommy, I just love Belle so much, she’s so beautiful and I want a dress just like hers,” middle Jersey daughter informs me when I ask why she wants to watch this one next. I have to agree with her, Belle is, by far, my favorite princess.

3. The Princess and the Frog

This film tells the story of a hardworking waitress, Tiana, who dreams of owning her own restaurant.  After kissing a prince who has been turned into a frog by an evil witch doctor, Tiana becomes a frog herself and must find a way to turn back into a human before it’s too late.

“The songs are so good, Mommy! I just love singing them,” Jersey daughter says.  The songs are pretty catchy!

4. The Little Mermaid

This movie, one of my all time favorites, is about a beautiful mermaid who dreams of becoming human.  Like Jersey daughter’s other picks, the songs are catchy, singable, and “Ariel is just so beautiful!”

Oldest Jersey daughter came from school during this movie so the last pick is a joint decision.

5. Aladdin

Aladdin is a street urchin who accidentally meets Princess Jasmine, who is in the city undercover. They fall in love, but she can only marry a prince. Aladdin gets his hands on a magic lamp with a genie inside who grants him 3 wishes.

Jersey daughters both agree that they love Genie.  Abu is a close second in their books. I, for one, am a sucker for the songs, of course. When I was in school, a looong time ago, we sand Friend Like Me in chorus and I was hooked! Jersey daughter is going to see Aladdin on Broadway in May and I am jealous!

Next time you find yourself home sick or home with a sick child, don’t be too bummed. Pop in a Disney movie, pop some popcorn and sit back and enjoy your Disney Movie Marathon! Doctor’s orders!
