Liberty Tree Tavern SignI had eaten at Liberty Tree Tavern, a restaurant located in Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom, a few years ago and don’t remember being very impressed.  Back then it was a character meal, and that was the main reason we had gone.  So I was a bit reluctant to go back this past vacation, but we were going to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and had scored a reservation right before the party started so it seemed like a good idea.  I am very glad that I gave it another chance!

InsideThemed after an early-American tavern set in revolutionary times, the decor includes a large fireplace, lots of wood paneling, and candles in the window.  The Cast Members are dressed in traditional garb as well, lending to the overall feel of the restaurant.  TIP:  There are several sections of the restaurant that require the use of stairs, including the bathrooms, which may be an issue for some guests.

foodThis all-you-care-to-enjoy menu starts out with Declaration Salad – tossed mixed greens and a very tasty house-made dressing.  Guests are then served the Patriot’s Platter – which includes Roasted Turkey Breast, Carved Beef, and Sliced Pork, with Mashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables, Herb Bread Stuffing, Macaroni & Cheese and a delicious gravy on the side.  When I tell you that the turkey was the moistest that I have ever eaten, I am not over exaggerating.  Everyone at the table was oohing and aahing over it, and we all decided that we want the chefs at Liberty Tree Tavern to cook all of our Thanksgiving dinners from now on!!

After you have had your fill of all of the yummy Turkey-day goodies, it is time for dessert!  The dessert does vary from time to time, but currently it is a Johnny Appleseed Cake, which is a white cake filled with apples and Craisens® and topped with vanilla ice cream.  It was a good way to end the meal on a sweet note, without being too heavy.

Liberty Tree Tavern Restaurant does accept Advanced Dining Reservations, and while not always necessary, they are recommended.  This restaurant is one credit on the Disney Dining Plan.
