Yes, You Should Consider Disney Songs for Your Wedding

By Pink Diva

A wedding is a magical time in one’s life.  The whole day is about celebrating the love between two people.  Bringing two families together.  If you are a Disney-loving couple adding Disney touches could be the extra magic you are looking for.

There are many ways to incorporate Disney into your magical day.  The biggest way would be to have a wedding at Disney.  While this is an expensive option, it can be done with some time, planning, and budgeting.  (You CAN afford a Walt Disney Wedding)  For most people, having a Disney Wedding is not an option.  However, a Disney theme wedding can be.

You can do so much with a Disney themed wedding.  Or not much at all.  You can search for hours on Pinterest looking at beautiful Disney themed weddings.  You can do as much or as little as you want.

Us on our honeymoon in 2004. We bought the frame while we were there, but has cracked during our military moves.

One great way to incorporate both your love for each other and your love for Disney is to have your first dance to a Disney song.  There are so many great ones out there:  “Bella Notte” from Lady in the Tramp, “A Whole New World” from Aladdin, “Once Upon a Dream” from Sleeping Beauty, “Kiss the Girl” from The Little Mermaid.  The list goes on and on.  You can probably find a love song from any Disney movie.

Or you can do what we did and pick something a little more out-of-the-box.  We choose “Promise” from Illuminations: Reflection of Earth.  Illuminations: Reflection of Earth is the current night time show at Epcot.  It will be ending after Summer 2019 after a 20 year run.

My husband had the cd of Illuminations from one of his trips with his parents.  He remembered the song and when he played it for me I knew it was the right one for us.  The lyrics couldn’t be more perfect for our life:

We’ll go on
Growing closer through the years
Moving on
Through the good times and the tears
Ever on
Another thousand circles ’round the sun
A new life has begun
The two of us as one
We’ll go on

Disney Wedding Songs

My Husband and I on our wedding day almost 15 years ago.

There are so many Disney songs that are not the big hits that could work wonderfully for your wedding.  “Can’t Help Falling in Love With You” by Elvis Presley from Lilo and Stitch is a slow, beautifully romantic song.  While your guests may not make the Disney connection, every time you watch Lilo and Stitch you will remember how your Ohana started.  Elton John has many iconic songs, but “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” from The Lion King instantly makes you feel romantic and loved.

Think about using a Disney song to walk down the aisle.  “I See The Light” from Tangled with or without the lyrics talks about how wonderful life is now that they want to be together.  “A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes” from Cinderella can remind you dreams do come true as you walk towards your one true love.  Another song about wishes, “When You Wish Upon A Star” from Pinocchio is another sweet, hopeful song to help you start your new married life.

There are so many other great places you can add Disney songs to your wedding without making it seem like a child’s birthday party.  “You’ll Be In My Heart” always brings tears to my eyes now that I have kids.  Dancing with your Mom or Dad to this song is a sweet reminder that you will always be their baby.  Do you want a fun song for the wedding party?  How about “You’ve Got a Friend In Me” from Toy Story.

While this song has no lyrics it reminds people of a beautiful life full of adventure.  The last notes of the song can bring tears to anyone’s eyes.  The love these two have for each other is only shown in the first 4 minutes of the movie, but lives in our hearts forever.  This song can fit anywhere in a wedding.  You can walk down the aisle to it, dance your first song to it, or play it as your leave the recpetion to start your own adventure.  “Married Life” from Up sums up how perfect life can be when we share it with someone we love.
