It’s official! Round 1 of the 2016 Disney Parks Moms Panel competition will open on September 8th at 10am and close on September 15th at noon! Each year thousands of Disney lovers enter in hopes of earning one of 20 or so spots, including our very own British Diva, a current Panelist! I’m proud and still a bit stunned, that last year my name was amongst the finalists! While it ultimately was not my year in 2015, I earned a FastPass for this year, which allows me to automatically advance to Round 2! If you’ve applied in the past and the glass slipper didn’t fit, or if this is your first attempt, get ready to throw your EARs into the ring as a Disney Parks Moms Panel 2016 hopeful!
The Panel is made up of Moms, Dads, even Grandparents, all with exceptional advice to help you plan the most magical of vacations! Your questions will be answered thoughtfully and with that touch of Disney magic you know and love! The Disney Parks Moms Panel has expanded over the years to assist Guests in four languages including English, Spanish, French and Portuguese! This elite group can answer questions about the Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland, the Disney Cruise Line, Disney Vacation Club, runDisney and ESPN Wide World of Sports!
I bet you’re wondering how this search process works, am I right?? This competition is lengthy; the 2015 process was a total of 4 rounds that took place from September to November. The waiting period between Round 1 and 2 was about 6 weeks, watching for updates on Twitter was a savior during that time! The judging panel reads through each application, checking for proper grammar, punctuation and of course, Disney Nomenclature! The judging panel has remained a mystery so I’m not quite sure how many participate, but with a rumored pool of about 10,000 applicants, it’s no wonder things take time! Round 1 begins with answering some basic questions about yourself, your visits to Walt Disney Parks, as well as some questions just for fun! Round 2 puts you in the Moms Panel hot seat by giving you the chance to answer vacation planning questions, with a word limit! For example, we had to share our favorite Disney souvenir in 37 words or less, which was tough! Round 2 also requires a video submission, way outside of my comfort zone but what an awesome opportunity for creativity! Round 3/4 involved a phone interview and a final Mom’s Panel question! Subsequent rounds present more of a challenge but provide a really great platform to let your authentic self and Disney knowledge shine! Putting yourself out there and taking part in this search is a truly unique opportunity for personal growth with the added bonus of sharing your love of Disney, in a way that only you can!

This will be my third attempt at making the panel; some have applied multiple times while others have made it on their first attempt! There is no magic formula and no one quite knows just what they are looking for each year! While it’s not easy getting the “it’s not your year” letter, don’t be discouraged and don’t ever give up on your dreams! The best advice I can offer is to be yourself, check and double check your responses and remember to have fun!!
