5 Useful Apps To Download Before Your Trip To Disney World

by London Diva

For me, organisation is key to any trip. Hate planning?? No problem, we’re here to take the stress out of the planning process for you!

Here I’ve complied my top 5 useful apps to download before your trip to Disney World to help your time there go just that little bit smoother.

1. My Disney Experience (Andriod, iOS, FREE)

If there is only one app you’re going to download before your trip, make it this one.

My Disney Experience is the official app to the Disney Parks. The app provides you with just about everything you need for your trip. You can purchase tickets through it, check ride wait times, make your own itinerary plan and also use the GPS-enabled map whilst in the parks to find attractions, shows and dining options.

Also, if you’ve purchased a Disney PhotoPass, you can access and save your photos and videos through the app!

2. Family Locator by Life 360 (Android, iOS, FREE)

This isn’t an app we used during our trip as there were only 2 of us and we didn’t split up at all. However, if we were a bigger group or if you’re travelling with teens that tend to want to go off and do their own thing, I can see the family locator as being the most useful app on this list.

Disney World is a big place and its easy to lose track of family members. This app allows for easy location sharing with an organisation model. This allows you to share your location with selective people rather than all of your contacts. You can also set up notifications that tells you when a contact arrives or leaves a specific location.

3. Disney World Maps, Wait Times, Touring Plans Free (iOS, FREE)

I used UndercoverTourist.com a lot whilst planning our trip to Disney world. I enjoyed using this app as I was able to customise my own touring plan and have this readily available on this app. The app also offers a crowd calendar (tells you what parks are busy on what days). And up-to-date wait times for park attractions and daily park opening hours.

4. Disney World Lines (Android, iOS, FREE/$12.95 for a 1 year subscription)

TouringPlans.com was my all time favourite tool when planning my trip. Their App, Disney World Lines, gives you  access to up-to-date restaurant menus which really helps when budgeting for your trip. Also included for free are suggested touring plans for each park. However, with the yearly subscription you are able to completely customise your own plan.

We were able to pick our rides, attractions and dining options (you are able to input the time of dining reservations) and the Touring Plans software will organise your options in the best way, taking into account wait times and crowd levels for the day.

These plans then saved to our profile and we were able to edit them as new attractions became available to us. The best bit was that once we were in Disney World we were able to refresh the plans throughout the day. This meant we were able to fit sooooo much in without waiting in line for long periods.

Also on the subscription is access to the crowd calendar which really helped us decide which parks to go to on which days. For example, on days where the parks were really busy, we made sure to plan our time outside of the parks.

I am in no way affiliated with TouringPlans.com. However, if like me, you are a crazy person that has to plan everything down to the last detail, this subscription is definitely for you!

5. WDW Radio (iOS, FREE)

The WDW Radio app is a podcast for all things Disney World. Hosted by Disney expert Lou Mongello, the podcast includes up to date news on the parks, details for new attractions, trivia (great to pass the time when standing in line), vacation planning tips, Info on Disney World history and much much more!
