The news we’ve been waiting for is here!  Walt Disney World has submitted reopening plans to Orange County! However, the news is rather confusing and disheartening.  Keep reading below for a list of what’s opening and what to expect during the process.

Reopening Plans Submitted!

Walt Disney World Reopening

 

  • On May 27, the Disney Travel Company submitted plans for phased reopening to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force in Florida
  • The following opening procedures are pending approval from the State and Orange County
    • Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park hopes to open to the general public on July 11, 2020
    • Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios plan to follow, opening to the general public on July 15, 2020
  • The Disney Vacation Club properties of Disney World and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will begin reopening on June 22, 2020
  • Disney Vacation Club properties located in Hilton Head, SC and Vero Beach, FL will begin reopening on June 15, 2020.
  • Disney Springs opened select, third-party owned shops and dining locations to the public on May 20, 2020
  • The World of Disney retail location in Disney Springs reopened on May 27, 2020. D-luxe Burger and the Marketplace CoOp are also slated to open
Dining and Experience Changes to Existing Disney World Reservations

Disney World Dining Reservations and Dining Plans to be canceled for 2020

  • All Dining Reservations and Experience Reservations (think Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique) scheduled from May 28, 2020, through the end of 2020 will be canceled
  • Disney Dining plans for this same time period will be canceled and refunded
  • ADRs will now be made at 60 days prior to check-in instead of the traditional 180-day mark
  • Fast Passes will be canceled and the system will be suspended moving forward
  • Extra Magic Hours will be suspended until further notice

How long will you wait to visit after Disney World reopens?

  • Guest capacity will be limited to align with proper social distancing protocols
  • Guests with existing tickets, existing reservations, and DVC members will use a new theme park registration system in advance to gain admission to the parks. Guests with park reservations will also have priority for any dining or available experiences being offered.  Disney World will contact these guests directly with details when the new system is available
  • New ticket sales are being halted at this time
  • Restaurant availability will be limited during the reopening
  • Traditional events such as fireworks, tours, and parades, which result in gathering crowds, will not return at this time
  • Characters will be in the parks. Character meetings, makeover experiences, and playgrounds will not be available during the opening phase
  • All guests over the age of 3 and cast members will be required to wear appropriate face coverings in the theme parks and public resort areas
  • Guests can expect to have their temperatures taken prior to entering any theme park; cast members will also be checked
  • At this time, all Disney Springs surface lots are closed.  Guests are asked to park in the Orange and Lime parking garages
  • Guests can only enter Disney Springs via the two parking garages, the Hotel Plaza Pedestrian Bridge, and rideshare drop-off/pick-up locations
  • All Disney Springs age 3 and over will be required to wear face masks and be subject to temperature screenings

No opening details for Disneyland just yet

  • Opening details have not been released at this time for Disneyland Parks, Resorts or Downtown Disney
  • Disney Cruise Line has canceled all sailings through July 28, 2020
  • Adventures by Disney has suspended all itineraries through July 31, 2020
  • Au’lani, A Disney Resort & Spa is closed indefinitely
