Disneyland Magic Key Renewal FAQs
By Tinker Belle Diva

In August 2021, Disneyland fans were given the new Magic Key annual pass program. There was quite a bit of stress in the Key community waiting for information on renewals, and it is finally here! So what is the deal with renewals? And can you buy a Magic Key if you do not already have one?

Question: I don’t currently have a Magic Key. Can I buy one now? Answer: Unfortunately as of this writing, new purchases are not being taken. Only current Magic Key holders can renew their existing Magic Key.

Question: When can I renew? My pass expires in 45 days and I can’t make new reservations past the expiration. Answer: The renewal window begins 30 calendar days before your current Key expires, and you cannot make reservations past the expiration date until you renew. But the good news is that once you renew, the park reservation calendar will show as available for you and you can make new reservations. New park reservations on your renewed pass will not impact, delete or change any existing reservations you have on your current pass.

Question: I want to renew but change the type of Key I have. Can I do that? Answer: Yes, you can change the type of Magic Key you have as long as it is still available. You can upgrade or downgrade your Key.

Question: Where do I go to renew my pass? Answer: Go to this link https://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/renew/ and if you are in your renewal window, it will show you the options to renew your Keys.

Question: My Magic Key already expired before Disney allowed renewals. What can I do? Answer: There are Guests that upgraded tickets that were still valid and have expiration dates from earlier this summer. If that is you, you are in luck! IMPORTANT! You need to call Guest Services prior to August 31st, 2022 at 714-781-7277!

Adventure Land DisneylandQuestion: I am not ready to renew my Magic Key right now. Can I just buy one later? Answer: You are only guaranteed to renew your Magic Key during your renewal window, which is 30 days prior and up to the day your Magic Key expires. If you let your Magic Key expire, you cannot purchase a new Magic Key. It is possible Disney will start allowing new purchases in the future, but those dates and when that will happen is unknown.
