Most people are amazed at how much they walk while vacationing at a Disney Park. Making your way from Adventureland to Tomorrowland to Fantasyland can really rack up the steps! So the last thing on your mind may be how to add MORE steps to your day. But if you are looking for a great way to burn off that extra churro, consider participating in the Get Up and Go Power Walk through Disney’s California Adventure Park. It’s a fabulous way to get some exercise while also getting an early morning sneak peek at the park before it opens to the public.

If you are a registered guest at a Disneyland Resort hotel, have athletic shoes, and can keep up a quick 15 minute per mile pace, you can participate in this free walk!   It is not, however, an activity for little ones. Guests must be age 14 and up, those under 17 must be accompanied by a guardian, and no strollers are allowed.

If you’re ready to Get Up and Go, just sign up at Guest Services in the lobby of any of the three Disneyland Park Resort hotels. On the day of your power walk, you’ll meet a little before 6:00 a.m. at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort and Spa’s entrance to California Adventure Park. A cast member will lead the walk, sharing park trivia and answering any questions you are able to shout out as you huff and puff your way along the 2-mile walk.

TIP: This truly is a power walk. If you have health issues that may prevent you from keeping up with the fast pace, please carefully consider whether this activity is right for you. Those who can’t keep up will be asked to drop off the group, and escorted back to the resort.

Although it’s an intriguing opportunity to see the park before hours, don’t register for this power walk thinking you can get some of those elusive “empty park” photos. No cameras are allowed on the walk, and sneaking a photo from your phone while walking is prohibited. Please be respectful of this. Even though photos aren’t allowed, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the view! You’ll be able to see those “behind the scenes” cast members working their magic as they spread pixie dust and get the park ready for the days’ guests. You’ll start by making your way through Grizzly Park, then onto Paradise Pier.  Imagine that normally crowded Boardwalk without a soul in sight. Unforgettable! You’ll make your way down Route 66, through Radiator Springs and “A Bug’s Land.”  Onto Hollywood, Carthay Circle and Buena Vista Street. P1060035 If you’re lucky, you’ll catch a glimpse of the sun rising over the Hollywood Hotel! Finally you’ll “Soar” past Condor Flats and finish up your walk back in Grizzly Park. It will be the quickest 30 minute tour of California Adventure you’ll ever take!

So if you’re looking for a fun-filled, fast-paced way to start your day the next time you’re at Disneyland, be sure to set your alarm clock, lace up your walking shoes, and enjoy the Get Up and Go Power Walk through Disney’s California Adventure Park. You’ll be sweaty, tired, and oh so glad you did!
