There are many fun and creative ways to keep the excitement alive when planning your Disney World vacation that is months away!

I would recommend going to your local library or bookstore and finding a few recently published Disney World travel books. You can also borrow books from friends who have recently visited Disney World. This will help to save you money as a good travel book can cost as much as $20.00 or more.

Next, I would recommend requesting the FREE Disney World vacation planning DVD. This DVD is great for showing your children visually what to expect. You can also custom design park maps on the Disney World website. This is a fun activity to do with your children and you can talk about the different rides at the park while doing this.

Now on to the creative ways to help keep the excitement alive! Pinterest is so popular right now that I would recommend joining if you have not already done so, and, of course, be sure to join the Tips from the Disney Diva board. Pinterest offers many crafty ideas and projects that are Disney related. Just do a simple search at the top left for Disney crafts, Disney countdowns, etc. If you are crafty you will find many fun projects to help you in your preparations for your Disney World vacation.

Craft projects range from simple Disney World countdowns that you can make yourself to personalized Disney shirts for each member of your family. You can spend months creating fun Disney themed craft projects that your children can help with. I created do it yourself Disney autograph books for each of my children. This was a wonderful to get them excited about the upcoming vacation and to save money at the same time! I also used Etsy.com to order some personalized shirts and a few dresses for my children. I do not have the time to sew nor do I know how, so Etsy.com has helped provide me with wonderful Disney related gear for my children.

I love to make lists and believe me, I made many lists prior to the Disney vacation. The lists ranged from what to pack, which attractions we definitely wanted to do, to what snacks/food to take in the car for the road trip. Which brings me to another fun topic: road trip goody bags!

A great way to keep that excitement alive is to create your children a fun road trip goody bag. You can read about the road trip goody bags that I made in this article. This is an easy craft that anybody can easily do too. Check the dollar sections of Target, Michael’s, etc along with Wal-mart, Wal-Greens, and the Dollar Tree, for Disney goodies for very little money.

Be sure to have a fun Disney movie night for your children a few weeks prior to your vacation. You could even have a fun ‘sleepover’ in your family room the week before the trip. Watch Disney movies together as a family, bake a cute Disney themed cake or cupcakes and talk about the vacation with your children. This will help to get them excited and allow for family bonding time! Enjoy your time together with your children and remember, the anticipation is all part of the fun leading up to your magical Disney vacation!

The Disney Diva also created a 6 months planning checklist you might want to check out, its very detailed and will make sure your trip stays on track.
