One of my family’s most absolute favorite shows to attend when at Disney World is one that we almost missed altogether.  And, had it not been for the Disney Diva herself, we would have.  On our very first trip, we were told to go to the very back of Hollywood Studios behind the Streets of America and to absolutely not miss Lights, Motors, Action!  And, boy are we glad we took that advice.

If your kids (now let’s face it when we are in Disney that includes everybody in your party) love action, cars, stunts, fireworks, motorcycles, jet skis, fire, explosions…you must check this show out.  It is truly a show for all ages.  Basically, it goes through the making of a live action movie.  It shows how they piece the scenes and stunts together to make an action movie while at the same time ensuring the safety of the actors and stunt doubles.

The stunt people are absolutely amazing and so much fun to watch.  In fact, one of our friends after watching the show said, “Now where were these jobs at career day when I was in high school?”  They race through the set in cars modified to perform the stunts they do. There are motorcycles and even jet skis dodging the “bad guys” and any other obstacles that get in their way  [Warning:  The show is pretty loud, so if your kid is sensitive to loud noises like mine, then I would recommend ear plugs or noise-isolating headphones].

One of my son’s favorite parts is the motorcycle chase scene.  I don’t want to give too much away, but I will reveal a few things.  At one point there is a man falling off a two-story building, gun shots erupt, and a “bad guy” goes up in flames (literally) and there are even jet skis involved at one point.  Needless to say, packed with action, and your child will be on the edge of their seat waiting to see what happens next.

Lights 5Lightning McQueen himself even makes a cameo in the show.  Due to the nature of the show, unlike other Disney shows, it is not as interactive.  But, they do choose a kid to drive one of the specially designed remote control stunt cars.  This kid gets a special pin that is only available by being picked in this show.  The shows are usually very crowded, so it is definitely a long-shot to be picked.  But, if your child were chosen, it would be the ultimate addition to your Disney pin collection.

The best part of the show is definitely the ending, and I don’t want to give any of it away.  Although, when they start setting up for it, you can somewhat figure out some of what is about to happen.  But, definitely have your cameras ready because the very last scene is a great photo opportunity.

Lights 2Lights, Motors, Action! Only takes place twice a day in the afternoon, so make sure you don’t miss it.  Currently, it takes place at 1:20 and 4:10, but be sure to check your Times Guide when you get to the park to ensure that the times have not changed.  It is something that we go to every time that we are at Disney World.  And, while the show really hasn’t changed very much in the three years we have been going, it is still just as exciting.  There are plenty of videos of the show on YouTube, but I don’t recommend watching them ahead of time because you don’t want to spoil anything.  But, watching them after is a great way to relive some of your Disney memories!
