On almost every trip to Walt Disney World we have at least one meal at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom.

Cosmic Ray’s offers a wide array of food options, including my favorite dinner selection, the 1/2 Chicken and Rib Combo at dinner, which comes with Mashed Potatoes and a Seasonal Vegetable. Barbecued Rib Meal  is also available at dinner.

For lunch and dinner there is a 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken which also comes with Mashed Potatoes and a Seasonal Vegetable at dinner.
1/3 lb Angus Bacon Cheeseburger with choice of Apple Slices, French Fries, or Cucumber Salad, Deluxe Chili-Cheese Dog, Barbecued Pork Sandwich, Grilled Chicken Sandwich, and a Hot Dog also with choice of Apple Slices, French Fries, or Cucumber Salad.
Chicken Breast Nuggets, 8 nuggets with choice of Apple Slices, French Fries, or Cucumber Salad.
Lighter options include Greek Salad, Turkey Sandwich with choice of Apple Slices, French Fries, or Cucumber Salad, a Vegetable Burger or Vegetable Sandwich with choice of Apple Slices, French Fries, or Cucumber Salad.

Side dishes include Chili-Chees Fries, Cucumber Salad, French Fries and Strawberry Yogurt.

Desserts include Carrot Cake, Chocolate Gelato, No Sugar Added Mango Gelato and Triple-Chocolate Cake.

There is also a very well stocked and varied condiments bar.

But the food is not what brings us back time and again.

We are fans of the intergalactic superstar, Sonny Eclipse.

Sonny, “The Biggest Little Star in the Galaxy” can be found daily in the Starlight Lounge at Cosmic Ray’s.

He can be found there nightly too! In fact, it seems like the guy never leaves!

That is probably because Sonny is an audio-animatronic alien who has come all the way from his hometown of Yew Nork City on the planet Zork to entertain us on his Astro Organ, which sometimes plays all on it’s own. He is accompanied by a group of invisible background singers, The Space Angels.

Sonny has very witty banter in between his eclectic mix of song selections, which include such intergalactic classics as “Planetary Boogie” and “Gravity”, which are entertaining and educational. The entire show is on a loop which lasts about 25 minutes.

A couple of my favorite Sonny Eclipse jokes:

“Ray pays me weakly; very weakly.”

“I’d like to dedicate this next number to my girl. Ah, she has the most beautiful purple eyes; all six of them. She has almost perfect eyesight too; 20, 20, 20, 20, 20, 19.”

“Thank you very much. Hey, speaking of planets; Donald Duck and Goofy were in here a few minutes ago looking for Pluto. Man, are they few million miles off, or what? Did you know that a comet is a star with a tale? Come to think of it, Mickey Mouse is a star with a tale, too. Small world, huh? Ooh, why did I start playing that tune? We use that on my planet, Zork, to break the enemy.”

If you are in Tomorrowland, stop in to Cosmic Ray’s and check out Sonny’s show. You may just wind up singing “Yew Nork, Yew Nork” the rest of the day instead of “Small World.”
