Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, a vacation club property, opened in 1995 on Florida’s “Treasure Coast”. The resort sits directly on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean, which makes it the perfect location for…a SPA! On  a recent visit, my five  year old daughter and I decided to try out the spa, and booked a mother daughter pedicure. We called on a Tuesday and were able to choose our reservation time for the following Saturday, as they were nowhere near fully booked. Upon arrival, we were escorted to a sitting area in the gift shop, against a window that overlooked the ocean. They kindly brought me a coffee and my daughter her requested ice water while we waited and shopped around.

While most spas are dimly lit with dark, relaxing colors, the Vero Beach Resort’s spa is bright, yet peaceful, and full of Florida’s natural sunlight – it is a welcome change! When it was time for our reservation, we were taken to a private pedicure room, with two massage chairs, and our bubbling foot bath all ready for us. We chose our colors, picked our seats, and peeked over the lunch menu. The pedicure rooms, which all seat two guests, overlook the beautiful grounds with a distant view of the waves. Our nail technician, Judy, was a wonderful hostess, keeping a fun conversation with my daughter, providing her with coloring pages, and even getting some giggles out of my shy girl! She flowed nicely between the two of us for our hour long session, wrapping one in warm towels while she worked on the other, and refilling our foot bath with warm water as needed. My daughter’s pedicure, which they call an “Ice Cream Pedicure” is just that – a pedicure that includes Disney’s famous Mickey Ice Cream bar!

The pedicure, which lasts about 50 minutes, includes a scrub, massage, and warm towel wrap. My daughter chose a strawberry kiwi lotion to finish off our treatments, and we were left to soak in the ocean views and coastal music playing overhead. An added bonus? Guests get to keep their nail polish, and we were even sent home with two mini bath bombs, as tossing them in the water was noticeably my daughter’s favorite part! Our total cost was $115 ($65 for mine, and $50 for my daughter’s) and was totally worth it for the experience we walked away with.

Apart from manicures and pedicures, the spa offers facials and massages for all ages (4 and up), so there is plenty of “mommy and me” options. They also offer adult only treatments, such as their Vichy Shower Treatment, which is a water massage and exfoliating experience that is truly a MUST at this spa. All of their treatments and massages include some kind of a tropical touch, whether through a citrus scented lotion, or a coconut oil, or even exotic nut extracts!  The spa is open seven days a week from 9 am until 6 pm and, while we lucked out last minute, reservations are strongly recommended in advance. The spa also offers a small lunch menu, including drinks.

My overall review? While pricier than an average pedicure, this was an awesome (vacation) deal and experience for the two of us, and as always with Disney, I’m sure your experience will be, as well!
