A while ago Disney California Adventure extended it’s Summer Break in honor of the 2 wittiest kids in the Tri-State Area: Phineas and Ferb! Now I know what you’re thinking, aren’t they a little young to be taking over DCA? Well, yes. Yes they are.

A couple of t024imes a day, the Dynamic Duo, a Rockin’ DJ,  and several of the Fireside Girls (courtesy of Isabella) would dance their way over to Paradise Pier in order to have the Best Day Ever by having a Rockin’ Rollin’ Dance Party! Guests would follow the Fireside Girls and Phineas and Ferb in a series of dances to everybody’s favorite songs from the show – making sure to show off their unique style for the best 14 and a half minutes of their life!

Anybody could join in on the fun – whether you were 3 or 83! Parents helped their younger ones in participating and the Fireside Girls led the crowds in plenty of dance routines like “Gitchee Gitchee Goo”.  And of course I learned to dance with squirrels in my  pants – “S.I.M.P.” for short. There were little “Disco Miniature Golfing Queens/Kings” and “Truck Driving Girls/Boys” (complete with imaginary cowboy hats and spurs) out showing their moves. And parent’s were encouraged to bring their kids out to play in the “Backyard Beach” with a game of limbo where everyone wins!

The crowd even made it to Isabella’s relatives country as they were “Welcomed to Tokyo”  with so much jumping around they even had to take rests during the song! And nobody could resist becoming a “Phinedroid” or “Ferbot”. I can’t tell you how many youngsters stood out in the spotlight when they got in their groove. Those pirates and princesses got so many cheers from the crowd just for being themselves. Parents even joined in on the fun with a hula hooping contest and there was always this older fellow who boogied by himself with so much gusto – the crowd went wild!087

Before the dancing was over everyone gathered on stage for a group photo – complete with silly faces! And then everyone gets up and does one more song  as they “Carpe Diem” or “Seize the Day” with choreography that even audience members (my mom and I included) participated in that was inspired from the show. It was so catchy my mom and I still dance  and sing to the songs when we are in the car or watch that episode on TV.

Suddenly Candace finds out about this Rockin’ Rollin’ Dance Party and HAS to tell Mom about it in order to BUST the Boys – and with that the boys had to “Gitchee Gitchee Go”. Not of course without finding their pet platypus – oh, there you are Perry. The kids all wave goodbye to the Fireside Girls (who have just earned their Dance Party Patches) and Phineas and Ferb while watching the group dance away – ready to make tomorrow the next Best Day Ever!

untitled-19-2There is no doubt that experiencing this exciting show was a highlight for many guests during their visit to Disney California Adventure. It was so popular in fact, that they even did a Christmas Party edition where the Fireside Girls had themed patches and they all danced to Christmas jingles.  The opportunity to bust a move and join the fun loving brothers Phineas and Ferb in one of their many adventurous Summer Days became a tradition for my Mom and I over the years until the excitement finally came to a close. Fall came back in session I guess, and those cartoon kids had to get back to school! (although Baljeet had been ready all Summer!)

Now Phineas and Ferb are just fond memories in fans’ heads with the closing of the show both in DCA and the Summer Finale on Disney Channel. But we won’t forget the many (way over 104) days of Summer we had with the bunch that took us from the Tri-State Area, to  all over the world – and even across the 2nd Dimension!  They will be missed!
