Specialty Desserts at Magic Kingdom

Once upon a time we visited the Magic Kingdom and had a reservation for the first time at Cinderella’s Royal Table for my daughter’s actual birthday while on vacation at Walt Disney World and I wanted to do something extra special for her. I read that there was a special Magic Kingdom custom cakes department you could contact which offers special cakes when you dine at a Disney restaurant. After researching it, we decided to simplify our Specialty Desserts at Magic Kingdomrequest and had a balloon waiting at our table and since dessert was included on the dining plan I chose not to order a large cake. I did special order Cinderella’s Glass Slipper dessert for her as an extra special treat. However, I was impressed with the variety offered and of course Disney always goes the extra mile.

Fast forward to this year and we will be traveling again for one of my daughters’ birthdays. I contacted that same WDW Magic Kingdom email, but it was bounced back. I was redirected to the new email for Magic Kingdom Specialty Desserts at wdw.magic.kingdom.specialty.desserts@disney.com I was disappointed to find out they no longer make custom cakes!! They also no longer offer a package to place a balloon at your table. We never had the opportunity to order a custom cake and now they aren’t offered. However, what they do offer now are unique specialty desserts you can order (for a price) at each restaurants including: Be Our Guest (for dinner only), Cinderella’s Royal Table, Jungle Skipper Canteen, Liberty Tree Tavern, The Crystal Palace, and Tony’s Town Square. You can even order specialty desserts for the Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party, but I’m not sure why you would need more desserts at a dessert party. Each dessert typically serves one to two guests and costs $15.00 each plus tax. Each dessert is exclusive to each restaurant and cannot be ordered at another dining location. Basic cakes are also offered to celebrate special occasions.

Below is the description of the dessert that Disney will email to you when you inquire about the specialty desserts available at each restaurant. Each dessert can be customized and decorated with a “Happy Birthday”, “Happy Anniversary”, or “Congratulations” chocolate piece!

Specialty Desserts at Magic KingdomThe following cake options can be added on to existing reservations at all table service restaurants in the Magic Kingdom.

The smallest traditional cake is the 6-inch round cake. This is available in either all vanilla or all chocolate and can be decorated with one of celebration medallions. This cake generally serves up to 6 people and costs $23.00 plus tax. This cake typically be found at the food court of most Disney resort hotel. We found it at the Art of Animation food court and had it back at our hotel room once for my husband’s birthday celebration in Disney.

The Mickey Mouse head cake, which serves up to 10, is in the shape of Mickey’s head and is chocolate cake with a dark chocolate ganache over top. This cake costs $54.00 plus tax and can be decorated with a “Happy Birthday”, “Happy Anniversary” or “Congratulations” chocolate piece!

One of the good things is any cake that is not finished can be boxed to take with you, however they will not store or hold anything for you at the restaurant so you must take it with you into the park or back to your resort on the bus.Cinderella's Castle

If you are interested in ordering any of the delicious specialty desserts or a cake, you can email WDW Specialty Cakes. They will need your confirmation number and your order details at least 72 hours prior to you dining reservation. You do not have to pay until you dine. Now that we know our options we have to decide what to do for my daughter’s birthday! Note: The information contained in this article is specifically for the Magic Kingdom, it is my understanding each park has their own specialty dessert or way of handling these requests.
