I’d heard good reviews about the Wave at the Contemporary Resort, so on a recent trip, my wife, another couple, and I decided to try it out for lunch.

The entrance, a tunnel, located to the right of the Contemporary Lobby is interesting, but the interior of the restaurant is somewhat bland. Sadly, so were the entrees for the most part.

I did really enjoy my appetizer. Pan-seared Sea Scallops, with sweet onions and chili cream corn sauce, for $10.99. While delicious, I thought, considering the price, the scallops were rather small.

3 of our party of 4 got the Bison Cheeseburger, with three cheese spread, served on a multigrain roll with choice of Bulgur Wheat Salad or roasted potato wedges, for $14.99. My wife and I got the Bulgur Wheat Salad, which was okay, but we all agreed that the burgers were bland, and small.

I’d ordered mine medium rare, my wife rare, and our friend medium well, and all of our burgers looked exactly the same when they came out. I asked my wife if she wanted to return it, but she said no. The three cheese spread was the only saving grace of the whole dish, and I had to order extra to make the burger more palatable. I’ve made better bison burgers on my backyard grill for a fraction of the price.

One of our friends got the Our Fall Harvest Salad, with Heirloom Apples, Candied Walnuts, Midnight Moon Cheese, and Ice Wine Vinaigrette $6.99 as her entree, and she said it was very good.

We all passed on dessert, as, for the most part, we were unimpressed.

I hesitated in writing what, as I re-read this, is a pretty negative, if short, review of a restaurant, but I feel I should warn people away from an expensive, and possibly disappointing dining experience. I can’t see any reason why I would return.

My verdict? If you’re looking to spend some big money on a high-end meal go somewhere else!
