Writer’s Stop – Disney’s Hollywood Studios by Senior Diva

The Writer’s Stop is a coffee shop located on the Streets of America in Hollywood Studios adjacent to the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. It is one of the best kept secrets when it comes to good coffee and snacks. It appears under the shopping area of the Walt Disney World website, but in reality is one of the best afternoon quick service snack spots in Hollywood Studios.

The Writer’s Stop was originally opened back when the park was still known as Disney-MGM Studios. It was opened to help promote  the ABC sitcom “Ellen”, themed after her fictional book store on the show, “Buy the Book.” Along with great coffee, lattes, cappuccino, espresso, cookies, muffins, and brownies, the Writer’s Stop is one of the few shops in the park that keeps a supply of medicines and health-related items. These items are not on display but if you find yourself in need of aspirin, cough drops/syrups, cold or flu remedies, bandages or antacids, just ask at the counter.
Aside from the coffee and snacks, the shop also offers books, gifts, CD’s stationery, videos, and on occasion will offer celebrity book signings.
There is a limited number of tables, some sofas and soft easy chairs which make this a great spot to relax with a cup of coffee mid-afternoon. A great thing about Writer’s Stop is that everything on the menu can be paid for using a snack credit if you are on the Disney Dining Plan.

Selection of Muffins (Banana Nut, Corn, Apple Cinnamon, Chocolate Chip, Blueberry, Double Chocolate Chip, or Cranberry)

Cinnamon Bun

Selection of Cookies (Chocolate Chip, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, Oatmeal Raisin, Sugar, Carrot Cake or Peanut Butter Crunch)

100% Arabica Coffee
Bottled Water
Cafe Cooler or Fruit Cooler
Cappuccino or Cafe Latte
Character Cup
Chocolate Milk
Double Espresso
Espresso or Americano
Flavored Syrup – Add a flavored syrup to your beverage.
Hot Chocolate – A seasonal offering
Hot Tea – American or Earl Grey
Iced Cappuccino or Iced Latte
Iced Mochaccino or Iced Mocha Latte
Island Chiller


The Writer’s Stop is a wonderful afternoon relaxation spot that will provide you with a wonderful cup of coffee made to order by a barista in a cozy and quaint spot tucked away from the crowds of Hollywood Studios.
